The easy way to clean your windows

There are several products out in the market, and i would be lying if i said i did't use some of those sprays or foams once in a while. But they can get very expensive, so i normally recommend using them for mirrors, or small glass surfaces.
When you have to clean your sliding glass doors or windows, it could get costly if you are using these products.
By following these easy steps, you will learn how easy and cost effective it is to wash and clean your windows.

Items you will need.
1. Squeegee (any size will do, the bigger the blade, the faster it will go. But make sure you get one small enough for those french style windows.)
2. Microfiber towels, clean rags, or strong paper towels. (make sure the rags don't release lint, Sam's Club offers a great selection on microfiber, and at a good price.)
3. Small bucket for water.
4. Liquid dish soap.
5. Ladder or step stool.
6. Kitchen sponge. I normally use the ones with a rough edge, and a soft edge. (make sure it is not too abrassive, you don't want to scratch the glass.)
7. Spray bottle filled with water.

Steps 1
Fill the bucket with water, and add one drop of liquid dish soap after filling up the bucket. (1 drop per each gallon)

Step 2
Spray glass surface or window with spray bottle, or rinse it with a hose when doing the exterior side.
(do one or two at a time, if you try to do more, they will dry and you will have to repeat the process)

Step 3
Dip kitchen sponge into bucket with dish soap and proceed to apply sponge to surface in a circular motion (you can try by first using soft side, and switch over to rough side if its very dirty, you will feel the dirt coming off of the glass)

Step 4
Use squeege to remove soapy water from surface. There are three ways you could do this: a.Side to side, b.Top to bottom, c.Start from the top, and go side to side going down, similar to an "S" motion (this one requires a little more experience)

Step 5
Make sure you wipe the rubber blade attached to the squeegee after every stroke (this will ensure you leave no streaks on the glass)

Step 6
When finished using the squeegee, wipe the edge of the glass where it meets the frame all the way around, to remove excess water and soap.

Step 7
Use a dry towel to touch up any streaks left on the surface, but most importantly any drops of water left behind (streaks will normally dry and disappear, but drops will dry and leave a dirt stain on the glass)

Quick tip: Use spray bottle with water to spray surfaces (especially big ones) if you feel that the soap is drying up while you are cleaning.

I hope these tips are of great help to you, you will love the way your windows and glass doors look afterwards. And the dish soap creates a nice protective film to keep hand prints off the glass, and will not damage surfaces that have a 3m film on them.

How to clean LCD screens

Flat screen monitors, whether in LCD, LED, or plasma form, are a little different than their CRT cousins when it comes to cleaning. Your standard CRT monitor has a glass screen and can be cleaned in pretty much the same way as you would any other glass in your home or office.
Flat screen monitors, however, require a bit of special care when cleaning. Their displays are much more sensitive and are easily scratched and damaged. The same applies to your flat screen television.
Follow the easy steps below to safely clean your flat screen monitor or TV in just a few minutes.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: Cleaning a flat screen (LCD, LED, or plasma) monitor usually takes less than 5 minutes
http://www.maidbest.com/

Here's How:

  1. Turn off the monitor. If the screen is dark, it will be easier to see the areas that are dirty or oily.
  2. Use a dry, soft cloth and very gently wipe the screen. A great choice would be the microfiber type of cloth used to clean eyeglasses.
See Tip #1 below for kinds of cloths to avoid.
  3. If the dry cloth did not completely remove the dirt or oil, do not press harder in an attempt to scrub it off.
Pushing directly on the screen can often cause pixels to burn out.
  4. If necessary, dampen the cloth with distilled water or with an equal ratio of distilled water to white vinegar.
Many companies also sell small spray bottles of special cleaner for flat screen monitors but the vinegar mixture is usually just as effective.
See Tip #2 below for products to avoid.
  5. The plastic edge that surrounds the screen can be cleaned with any multipurpose cleaner but take care to avoid contact with the screen itself.

Tips:

  1. Avoid using paper towels, toilet paper, tissue paper, or something like your shirt to wipe the screen. These non-ultrasoft materials can scratch the display.
  2. Avoid cleaning products that contain ammonia, ethyl alcohol, acetone, toluene, ethyl acid, or methyl chloride. These chemicals can react with the materials that the flat screen is made of which could yellow the screen or cause other kinds of damage.
  3. Never spray liquid directly on an LED, LCD, or plasma screen. It could run inside the monitor and cause damage.
